Descrição:

Objetivos: 1) Orientar o aluno na leitura de artigos sobre Ortodontia Corretiva, previamente selecionados, de revistas nacionais e internacionais, instruindo-os na confecção de resumos, materiais audio-visuais e fichas de aulas. 2) De posse desses materiais didáticos, o aluno disserta sobre o assunto perante o professor e colegas. Ao final discutem-se o conteúdo e a apresentação do aluno.

Justificativa: A prática de seminários enseja preparar os alunos para exercerem futuramente a docência. A leitura dos artigos prepara-os também para a pesquisa.

Ementa: Oferecer e discutir com os alunos as bases biológicas imprescindíveis para o futuro entendimento dos princípios que regem a Ortodontia preventiva, interceptora e corretiva.

Conteúdo Programático:
1. Bases filosófica e científica da técnica ortodôntica do Arco de Canto
Simplificada, preconizada pelo curso (Martins).
2. Aparelhagem ortodôntica. Mecânica do Arco de Canto (Martins) e Pré-ajustados (Andrews).
3. Sistema de força. Ancoragem intra e extrabucal.
4. Conceitos das tçnicas alternativas: Tweed, Ricketts, Begg e lingual.
5. Diagnóstico e planejamento dos casos atípicos.
6. Contenção e recidiva.
